Sarah Howe's Story
Sarah Howe tried to raise money by mortgaging her own house and furniture. Many women had put their entire life savings in the bank, so there was a lot of panic. One of the bank's employees said that she was sometimes paying out $40,000 per day. On October 4th, she started to run out of money. And on October 16th, she was arrested.
