Is There a Work Permit for Spouses?
If you're coming in as a visitor, nobody can work. The spouse and dependent children can come in and basically hang out. But if you want to work, you've got to have a visa to do it. So at the moment, anyone who's in EU National has the right to be employed or self-employed. Those people already here could apply for something called a residence document,. Or alternatively could apply for permanent residence if they've been here for five years.
