The Benefits of Living in a Spiky Environment

Is it still worth going to San Francisco if you're a young person and really ambitious? Is that still like a worthwhile thing at least to visit? I think it's more just, there is such a high density of serendipity in areas that are very spiky in a particular dimension and a particular type of person.
