CHAPTER

The Effects of C-Tep Inhibitors on Cholesterol Levels

The sequence is probably this, you stop the transfer of a cholesterol molecule going from HDL to LDL. That will make HDL higher by definition and LDL lower. Now then has done stable isotope turnover studies and have shown that the reason for the lower LDL is that they are sweeped up by the liver. So there is a new equilibrium between removal of lipoproteins by the liver and production of small HDL particles but that only happens if you almost completely knock out CTP. If you're born with a loss of function variant in CTP you are much better protected against septosemia.
