I would argue with your point about having a rigid definition of a session being the bad thing. Do think it adds a level of consistency. And there is consistency when looking across historical data as well. I agree, it's never going to be perfect. And i guess what i'm saying is that session definition needs to be reviewed and modernized - but i don't see it going away.
