Is There a Causal Effect of Religious Education?

The study looked at a unique german setting that had staggered state level reforms of the compulsory nature of religious education. Before the reform, religious education was compulsory, oll students had to take it. After the reform, students could choose ethics or still religious education. So essentially what we do in this approach is tease out national ferences that are constant between years and state specific differences.
