The Immediacy of Wildlife Gardening
Wildlife gardening is about drawing the wildlife from your neighbourhood into your patch. You can help and support it, but also very importantly, where you can observe and enjoy it. There's been an enormous kind of mainstreaming of the whole idea. Gold finches, for instance, were extremely rare, farmland birds 35 years ago. Now I get notes and letters from people who regularly get 40 or 50 gold finches on their bare feeders. A change in behaviour can really have a tangible difference.
