In a hunter-gatherer world, there's no property. The idea of land would seem absurd to them because you're moving around all the time. And it was really only when people started growing things that you had to say, no, this is my land. So that was a huge shift. That's a gigantic, I mean, that can't even be overstated how big of a shift that is.

In this episode of Made You Think, we discussed “The Sovereign Individual,” a book published in 1996 predicting how the Internet would change our lives and work over the following decades.
