The Low Spiritual State of Jacob

Samuel Johnson: In Genesis 43, we see the low spiritual state in which Jacob is in. He says there's an interesting contrast between the beginning of 42 and 43 where Jacob looks at his sons as he asks them why they're not doing more to help one another. And here now Simeon, his son is in prison and they need to go back and rescue him,. But Jacob is the one pushing the brakes on this and saying, you're not going to take Benjamin from me.
