Children With Sickle Cell Anemia - A Randomized Controlled Trial
The trial looked at overt clinical neurological events in death, but not other acute and chronic complications of sickle cell anemia. The cost-effectiveness argument for low-dose therapy might or might not hold up if moderate dose therapy ameliorates the disease in other ways. Overcoming barriers to optimal care is not easy in Sub-Saharan Africa,. But it's been done in the setting of HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis.
