The Effects of Cosmic Rays on Carbon 14
Carbon 14 interacts with oxygen in the atmosphere to make carbon dioxide. Most plants and most animals on the surface have about as much carbon 14 in them as exists in the upper atmosphere. Deep ocean animals tend to have less carbon 14 than birds that live in the high atmosphere or you know cows that live on the surface. We can actually map the carbon 14 fraction over the biosphere and see how that flows.
