The Importance of Narrative Audiences

The authorial or hypothetical audience is the hypothetical audience for whom the text was composed. You can have an ideal narrative audience, so the narrator wishes they were narrating. In Lolita, the idea there is that actually the narrative audience are the people for whom the framing narrator is speaking.
