The Allegory of the Cave

The allegory of the cave is in an incredibly self referential way. It's appealing to the rational part of the soul by pointing out to you what these various levels and their relations are. But it's also appealing to the other parts of theSoul by giving you vivid imagery that you can hold on to at the moments when you're trying to understand the nature of the world.
