China's Universities Rise in the World Rankings

Among the top 100 universities, the number of those in the US fell 234 from 43 between 2018 and 2019. The number of Chinese universities in the top 100 increase from two to seven. China also increased the share of international patents to 49% in 2020 up from 16% a decade earlier.
