The Role of Religion in Modern Economics

Adam Smith and David Hume were in the middle of religious controversies, whether they wanted to be or not. This is not a case of religious believers self-consciously bringing their beliefs to bear on their professional work. It's what you hear discussed at the lunch table every day. So that in a nutshell is why even though the argument may seem counterintuitive, I think it's true.
