The First President of the UK's Women's Institute, Lady Gertrude Denman

The first president of the UK's Women's Institute used a frying pan as a whip. Lady Gertrude Denman also wore an entire stuffed owl on her head. She married the man who went on to become the governor of Australia and it was decided that she would be the one who opened this little golden casket which contained the name for Canberra.
