In UX, you have to find a way for people to think it's more fun if you put the goals there. The template can be so easy. Make it really, really simple in the beginning. Then perhaps make it, well, build on it as you go along and realize the value of it. Be pragmatic. There's no point implementing stuff that's all high level and perfect.
