The police in Memphis have a long track record of racism and there have been other killings of unarmed people, especially black people. It also had a very hard charging district attorney for years,. Amy Wierick, who I wrote about in my book. She was defeated last year by Steve Mulroy, the current district attorney. These murder charges against the police were brought very quickly.
