Losers write history, and poles wrote a great deal of history in the nineteenth century, but it doesn't get translated. And theni the territories that used to be the grand duchy in poland, we talk about the post colonial attitude. So te ntonal narratives often pose polan as the colonizer, a sort of alien, western imperialist. There ar lies literature on both sides, sankevich on the po side and goggle on the kranean side, for example. Both use the same narrative of a mad, passionate love of a cossack for a polish woman,. which perhaps captures some of that turbulent relationship.
