The Power of the People
No sensible person can deny that every society is dominated by the powerful. In no real society can everyone, or even most people, be powerful or equal in power to all western societies. Before the so called enlightenment, this was a feature, not a bug, because power must reside in the few. A well run society was seen not as extending power to all, but as insuring that power was used generally for the good of the whole,. rather than by the people. If correctly done, this means most citizens need not, and should not trouble themselves about power or politics given human nature. The success of this project has been mixed from an historical perspective, but it has a far better track
