Is This Really a Psychiatric Deception?

People who have studied and analyzed this believe that Rosenhan was trying to simulate existential symptoms, possibly an existential psychosis. The thing is, after they presented themselves at the psychiatric facility, and they gave this false initial complaint, they were also required to give a false name. They were supposed to behave exactly like they normally would as themselves from that point on.
