The Scabbards of Roman Military Equipment
Roman military equipment tended to be made in factories fabrica. And we do find varying tinned or silvered or brass plates attached, brass being bronze to a roman. Some are extremely elaborate, some are very plain. We think it was down to theal. It has a metal scabbard where you put the sword in. There is a metal entry to protect the wood at the top, shaped to allow the sword to enter. They were then covered in leather, and that was your roman gladius.
