Winter storms, spring showers. All bring about challenges. Yet if you know your talents and can respect your gifts, how can you not go after what you want?

It breaks my heart to speak to hundreds of people sharing their stories about how their dreams were halted or put on hold because of the daily grind, the challenges, the finances, the support.

But for many of us, this is the reality. However, does it really have to be so?

Many times, you can be too quick to dismiss what you really need to be going after.

Let's think about a time of chasing a boyfriend back in the day. Maybe you were in middle school or kindergarten. And you just had this crush on this boy.

For whatever reason, nothing was going to stand in your way of chasing this boy.

But when it comes to your dreams, your family, your career, your community, your church, you are quicker to draw the line and give up.

Why?

Because if you were honest with yourself, that's a great cop-out.

You are made for more. That means when the challenges hit you in the face one early morning, you take a deep breath, reevaluate your stance and situation, and pivot.

Where did you hear me say quit?

You didn't.

Sometimes what we need to go after requires a bit more volatility. That simply means...you need to have your feet held to the fire.

The K.I.S.S. ~ How can you not?

If you have this deep-seated desire to have a warming house for your community, what is stopping you?

Regulations? Too much red tape? Money? Extra hours you didn't expect?

These can most certainly be an issue, but do they have to be the driving factor of whether you quit or continue?

I believe you can do anything you set your mind to.

Today, we are hunkered down because of the ice storm. Now I could pretend that the storm makes it where I can do anything. But unless is was like the one we experienced in 2009, nothing is impossible.

The crazy thing is, you have to get out of your head and out of your own way.

When you know that you are supposed to be doing something amazing (writing your story, creating a homeless shelter, serving the veterans, starting your own business, expanding your family), how can you not?

Your why must become your greatest excuse not to.

But you can chicken out and take the shortcut route and call it quits.

Not you. Not today!

Now, if you're pivoting or shifting in some form or fashion, that's not quitting. You are staying in the game for what you know you are supposed to do in your heart.

So instead of falling into the whining of "I can't do this. I don't have enough time or money.", spring forward and take A.I.M. to do what you can.

Cause how can you not?

If you were sitting with me right now, which you are by the way, what will break your heart if you don't do it?

That's a quick way to bring everything into perspective by giving yourself permission to continue to plan, to pivot, to prepare, and to produce.

Your dream is alive. How can you not live it out?
