The Importance of Nutritional Counseling in Stroke Prevention
Poor diet quality has been identified as a leading cause of premature deaths and disability. The proportion of patients with stroke who received diet counselling was, on average, a meagre 15%. Patients in metropolitan areas had almost a two times higher odd of receiving diet counselling than patients in rural areas. Neurologists were the least likely to counsel patients on diet compared to family physicians or internists.
