What Does That Word Mean?
The number of times you're exposed to the word that develops how quickly you assimilated into your own vocabulary, so to speak. A knowledge organizer on a glossary can be really helpful in that sense. I mean, I'm 34 and I will say now, what does that word mean? But I wouldn't have done that for years. So just vocabulary, really, it's at the heart of literacy, isn't it? If you joined a school or were working in a school where retrieval practice was an unknown quantity, what would your plan be to make it central to how the school is teachers and its pupils operated?
