Why Hong Kong Is Embracing Cryptocurrency
There are a number of theories as to why Hong Kong is embracing crypto. The one that I like the most from talking to people in Hong Kong is that I think China just wants to do something fundamentally different from the US. For the exact same reason that the US embraced the internet 20 years ago when China banned Google, YouTube, Twitter, and developed its own firewall, China is pulling the same playbook back to the US. That's fundamental to what it is. If you don't take risks, if you don't embrace new technologies, you're going to fall behind. And so I do think there will be like stripped down versions of like crypto that would be primarily targeted to Chinese retail.
