What Constitutes a Stakeholder?
In classic business theory, there's a way of using the language of stakeholder to describe particular people who are important to the operations of a company. In this book, I point out that one scholar found something like 571 different definitions of what constitutes a stakeholder. And when you get into that type of territory, you start to see that the effect is to essentially dilute very, very quickly the distinctiveness of what business is about.
