The Bloodiest Day in Human History
The fall of Baghdad marked the end of the Golden Age of Islam. Estimates on the number of people who died ranged from 200,000 up to 1 million. Thirty-six separate libraries in the city were all destroyed. It was the greatest destruction of knowledge since the fire at the library of Alexandria.
