A Brief History of Assyria
The Assyrian Empire was far more homogenous than we might expect from such a large state. Deportees and prisoners tended to adopt the Aramaic language for both speaking and writing. The Naya Ilaian and her daughter were enslaved, but they would have been expected to assimilate to this homogenous imperial culture after their arrival in Ashurban.
