The theory of relativity directly contradicted our perceptions of time, or experiences of time en it suggested that people moving relative to one another will have time take faster or slower depending on how they're moving. Bergson proposed an alternative idea in this alternative idea he called duration. Andduration essentially is the notion that the present is, you know, not just an isolated moment in time, but it consists, really, of everything that came before it. Because it's unique, it allows for novelty - novelty in the se that we have free will and actions can be unpredictable.
