Optical atomic clocks are very sensitive to gravitational potential. As the accuracy of these clocks continues to improve, what we can do is put better constraints on violations of fundamental physical laws. Or, you know, maybe the sensitivities of these clocks will be good enough to eventually be able to pick up faint dark matter signals.

A web of three optical atomic clocks show incredibly accurate measurements of time, and the trailblazing astronomer who found hints of dark matter.
