There's No Planet B - Solar Power From Space
Both the Japanese and Chinese will have pilot solar space power stations in orbit by 2030. They trap sun's rays, concentrate them into microwaves and pipe them back to fixed points on Earth. And there are those who say that by 2050 that could supply two-thirds of the globe's energy supplies. The problem is that we're currently growing global energy demand by 2.4 per year.
