Algerian king had hoped the expedition would go his way, but it didn't matter much. The liberal majority was now 270 to a hundred and forty five. An atmosphere of angry resentment now hung over the tuilerie palace. They were simply looking for a way to stop the king's enemies from coming to power. But boy o boy, did they ever underestimate that response.
