In this chapter, they discuss a scene from the book Blood Meridian where the judge and the kid are involved. Shelby is injured and they need someone to kill him, so they decide to draw straws to choose. The kid initially chooses the red arrow, but then switches his choice when he sees the judge looking at him. They talk about how this scene reflects the battle won by the judge and the emotional struggle within the kid.
