Segment was looking to reduce the operational work load on security engineers. They mapped out self service threat modelling programm where they taught developers how to actually do threat modelling themselves. I spent two quarters teaching about a hundred nrd engineers how to threat model. After it was done, it actually blew my mind how well engineers like the litter of the first self service threat model that was done. Once you teach em how to understand what security is, they they're able to digest it fast.
