Stonehenge in the Wiltshire Area
There are other monuments in this stonehenge landscape that are aligned on the solstices. These were sophisticated people they had enough time and energy to build at such a spectacular monument. There's some sites particularly passage tombs in Ireland and in Scotland that are also astronomically aligned. The winter solstice is more important of the two in the prehistoric calendar.
