What Do We Learn About Laban?
Samuel Johnson: The servant's prayer tells us quite a bit about how we're supposed to interpret the passage. He says Laban is an opportunist who sees that maybe he can get some sort of monetary advantage or other advantages from this newfound visitor, which characterizes what we'll see of Laban in the future. "The Lord has orchestrated these events exactly to happen exactly as the man prayed," Johnson says.
