Male bears are very promiscuous. They'll find as many females as they can to breed with because the imperative part for them is to just get those genes spread out into the gene pool. A female bear won't breed with a male if she still has cubs that are with her. The only way that a male can make that work in his favor is to eliminate the cubs. And so what he'll do is he'll come in and he'll kill the cubs,. And that brings the female back into estrus during the breeding seasonSo that he can meet with her and her next set of cubs will be hits.
