The brain knows which direction the head is turning into so how does this work right here's how I imagine this both eighth nerves are chronically active. through the eighth nerve to the brain stem right and to make sure that the and the vestibular apparatus right has fluid in it when you move your head that fluid has a change in its momentum and that is signaled through electrochemical signals right to the eighth nerve. if the eighth nerve works on both sides you turn your head to one side the eighth nerve says hey you turn to my side send the eyes to the opposite side no problem. If there's a vestibulopathy on one side and you turn the patient's head to that
