Pike's Journey Up the Mississippi

Pike and his men were guests at the Lake Leach post for roughly two weeks. Pike had been sent on this journey to do several things, including map the Mississippi up to its headwaters if possible. He was also to work out peace between warring Sue and Chippewa's. The American government would build Fort Snelling in modern-day Twin Cities, on the spot Pike had selected.
