Alex Moore: When does a country or nation cross the line into an empire and do you think the United States crossed that line? Richard Kaplan: I disagree about what a nation means. He says Napoleon was not a nationalist. Hitler was not a nationalists. They wanted an empire. And when you're conquering all of Europe, that is no longer a national project. But ahead of the National Socialist German Workers Party, just because you wanted to conquer some neighbors, there weren't a nation state any more. There's a huge difference.
