In the late forties and early fifties, there was an ideal of a good job that would take care of you. The jobs were typically held by white men who worked 40 hours a week or more. But today these kinds of jobs are less common as people get better at their jobs in other industries. "Fewer and fewer people have that kind of job," says author Fredrik Hertzberg.
The pandemic has changed how we think about work. Vox’s Anna North says it might be time to change how much we work, too.
