China's Aircraft Carriers Are Designed to Provide Additional Air Support
China is projected to have three aircraft carriers within the next few years. The Chinese are investing in building fleets that can travel along the Indian Ocean, out to the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Aden. Of course, with carriers, you need to bring assets to protect the carriers, such as air defense ships,. Those destroyers, I mentioned, have lots of surface air missiles and are very strong anti-air assets.
