The Importance of Synthetic Art
I find that I have a very different reaction to the generation of synthetic art versus what purports to be synthetic nonfiction. So for instance, somebody at some point sent me a an AI generated conversation between Alan Watts and Terrence McKenna - two people who I don't believe ever met. But I realized I had no interest in listening to an AI generated version of that conversation. However good it might be it's just like it because it yeah, it doesn't scratch the itch, a real conversation would have scratched for me. And I noticed another double standard for me with respect to artwork; when a painting on some level, I'm happy for a painting just to look good.
