The Stamp Act was the first time Britain tried to tax the colonies directly. The American colonists were made to feel like second-class citizens and it definitely made them mad. Most of the colonists who are protesting the Stamp Act are simply saying, we want to be full-fledged British citizens or members of the British Empire.
