The Spanish Expedition to Conquer the World

The Spanish were out numbered 5-1, but defeated the Cacica after a difficult fight. They looted Sumaco's village, finding many gold items and just as important food. Any native seized were likely put to work as slaves. With the victory against Sumaco, the rest of the colonists were brought to the site where they built their colony. The settlement was called Santa Maria de la Antigua del Darien or simply Santa Maria.
