Translating the Ramayana can be a difficult task for modern readers. How do you negotiate this difficult space? You don't want to compromise on everything that the original is doing. But at the same time, it must be like, you know, you also want to come up with something that is independently good writing on its own. It and that's one of the great pleasures of the epic, that it is like us and yet not like us, you know.
