Almost everyone is an expert in some field, but very, very few people are experts in general fields. And the things that matter to us tend to be the s that are closest to us and really impinge on our lives. Most people know something really, really well, maybe for pleasure, maybe for work. It could be where we live. But if you ask someone whose passion was chess to take a decision about health care, it's very, very unlikely they will have the wherewithal to do it.
