High energy prices is not something that appears on death certificates. To figure out whether high energy prices had an effect, we had to sort of look for clues. We estimate a price rise of around 10 cents per kilowatt hour (30% of last winter's electricity price) is related to an increase in a country's weekly mortality of around 2.2%.
