Lebanon's Biosphere Reserve

Lebanon endured a grueling civil war from 19 75 to 19 90. That's when the shuf biosphere reserve was established by a local leader named walid jumblat cue. He installed land mines, blocked access roots to the cedar trees with earthborms and had all entrances barred use armed men. These days, instead of keeping people out with force, the reserve invites them in. It welcomes them as stakeholders in the natural resources of their area.
